Foods and Drinks to be avoided by people with history of Kidney Stone
As there is no known exact reason for developing kidney stone disorder but high intake of foods which contains oxalate may produce kidney stone in people with history of the kidney stone. These people should avoid foods which containing higher oxalate. Foods in lower oxalate levels are very helpful to treating kidney stones.
Here are some foods containing higher oxalate:
- Rhubarb
- Spinach
- Beets
- Swiss chard
- Wheat germ
- Soybean crackers
- Peanuts
- Okra
- Chocolate
- Black Indian tea
- Sweet potatoes

One should eat foods with medium oxalate in controlled manner, here are some foods with medium oxalate
- Grits
- Grapes
- Celery
- Green pepper
- Red raspberries
- Fruit cake
- Strawberries
- Marmalade
- Liver
There are many foods with low oxalate level which you can eat to controls development of stones
Many dairy products are low in oxalate levels here are some which you can eat
- Buttermilk(Very good in the prevention of the kidney stones as described in Ayurvedic text)
- Cheese
- Milk
- Non-fat Yogurt
- Apart from these there are some vegetables which are low oxalate levels
- Peeled cucumber(Khira)
- Zucchini squash, Bottol Gourd
- Frozen green peas
- White cabbage
