Blood group and diet

You may have heard about hypothesis blood group and diet. This concept was given by naturopath Peter D’Adams in year 1996 in his famous book Eat Right for Your Type.

In this book he has written one should plan diet according to his or her blood group. Such diet helps a person of particular blood group to have more energy, weight loss and diseases prevention. For example

A person of blood group O, should have diet rich in protein like lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables and less of grains, beans, and dairy.

Blood group A, should have whole grains, legumes, beans and no meat.

Blood group B, should have green vegetables, eggs, certain meats, and low-fat dairy and avoid chicken, corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, and sesame seeds.

Type AB, should have tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats.

This concept has been even endorsed by some celebrities. Many people may even started following it faithfully.

But now a research from Toronto has declared it baseless. They studied it on 1455 healthy people. They are given diet according to blood group type. After the study this inference was drawn that there is no correlation between two.

One must not rely completely on certain food items and supplements as that causes certain nutritional deficiencies as well as health issues.

One should have all nutritional food items to have well balanced diet. A diet of particular type may induce nutritional deficiency of certain kind in long run. So plan your meal judiciously have well balanced diet to have good health and for losing weight rely on physical exercises and regular exercise regime.
