Shila Sindur is prepared by processing Shuddha Parada (purified mercury), Shuddha Gandhaka (sulfur) and Shuddha Manashila (arsenic disulphide) in Kumari swaras. Shila sindur is a Rasayana and good for the brain and heart. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that effectively cures many infectious diseases and purifies blood. For the medicinal purpose, the maximum dose is 1 to 2 Ratti.

Uses of Shila Sindoor

  • Skin diseases, leprosy or kustha, skin itching, abscess
  • Rakta dosha (vitiated rakta dhatu)
  • Infectious diseases such as fever, sannipat jwar, malarial fever
  • Cough and respiratory illness
  • Gonorrhoea, obesity

The Dosage of Shila Sindoor

Shila Sindoor is a metallic preparation containing mercury, sulfur, and arsenic disulphide, it should be taken ONLY in prescribed doses. The dosage, as given in Ayurvedic text is 1 Ratti (125 mg) to 2 Ratti (250 mg), in morning and evening. Honey is Anupan (fluid vehicle or drink with medicine) for Shila Sindoor.
