Pilorid is a mineral-herb containing proprietary Ayurvedic medicine from Nagarjuna Ayurvedic Group. Pilorid is indicated in the management of piles/Hemorrhoids or Arsh.
Piles is a medical condition in which the veins around the anus or lower rectum gets inflamed. It can be inside the anus or under the skin around anus. The main factor responsible for development of piles is chronic constipation. The most common symptom of hemorrhoids inside the anus is red blood covering the stool. This blood is fresh and bright red in color.
Pilorid tablets contain extract of Putika/Papri/Chirabilva fruit (Holoptelea integrifolia). The Cirabilva have light, dry, hot and pungent properties. The fruits have pitta-har (pitta reducing, reduces acid of stomach), anti-inflammatory, laxative, detoxifying, digestive, and wound-healing properties and are useful in digestive disorders and piles.
Another important ingredient of this medicine is Gandhak or Sulphur. Gandhak is non-metallic element with bitter astringent taste and a peculiar strong smell. It has laxative, alterative, diuretic and insecticidal properties. It has a specific action on the rectum. Manahshila/Mansil/Manshila or Realgar is Sulphide of Arsenic. It has warming, sedative, laxative, and detoxifying properties.
