Ingredients of Neem Ghan Vati
Each tablet contain 500 mg of Neem (Azadirachta indica)
In Sanskrit, the meaning of word ‘Ghan’ is Pill from the powder of a dried liquid. Neem Ghan vati is prepared by drying the thick decoction of neem.

Neem is the only ingredient of this medicine. The active constituents of neem are the mainly triterpenoids, sterols, bitter principles nimbin and nimbiol. The Neem bark is cool, bitter, astringent, acrid and refrigerant. Bark of the tree is useful in tiredness, cough, fever, loss of appetite, worm infestation.
Neem bark heals wounds and vitiated conditions of kapha, vomiting, skin diseases, excessive thirst, and diabetes. Neem is used to treat intestinal worms, heat-rash, boils, wounds, jaundice, leprosy, skin disorders, stomach ulcers, chicken pox, malarial fever, etc. The bark of the tree is used in Ayurveda for the treatment of the skin diseases, excessive pitta, excessive kapha, toxins in the body, bleeding disorders and healing of wounds.
Neem Root bark and young fruits are astringent, tonic and antiperiodic (prevent recurrence of diseases).
In one study, Neem and Haldi were mixed as a paste and applied topically on chronic ulcers and scabies. The result was excellent. Application of paste regularly for 3-15 days cured scabies and ulcers on skin.
The Neem leaf churna is given in a dose of three grams twice a day with water to treat Sheet-pitta or urticraia.
The root of the tree is used in the treatment of swelling, anorexia, cough, nausea, burning sensation, non-healing wounds, sprue, fever, intestinal parasites, diseases of the skin, urinary disorders, bleeding disorders, excessive thirst, diseases of the liver and vomiting.
