Isabgol has been found to be practically unaffected by the digestive enzymes of stomach and bacteria and passes unchanged through the intestine. It pass through the small intestine to large intestine. There the husk absorbs water and swells approximately ten times. This causes formation of soft stool bulk and since it is jelly-like so it moves easily. This further causes normal stimulation for bowel. It is useful in Ulcerative colitis.
Tiphala is a combination of three dried fruits and most used formulation in ayurveda. Use of triphala is helpful in various diseases such as anemia, fatigue, cancer, allergies, constipation, diarrhea, infections, indigestion, all eye diseases including conjunctivitis, progressive myopia, glaucoma, cataracts and skin diseases.
