It is infectious disease which is common throughout year with weather changes.. The symptom for common cold is running and stuffy nose, headache, sore throat, coughing and mild fever.

Here are some of best herbs and medicines which are effective in the treatment of common cold

1) Tulsi leaves has expectorant properties. In cold cough, with 3 ml of ginger juice and 3 ml of tulsi leaves juice helps to give relief in cold and cough. Tulsi leaves juice with honey is also an effective remedy.

Dosage and administration: 5-20 ml leaves juice orally with honey and water for 3-5 days.

2) Vasaka is indicated in the treatment various diseases, and especially in cold, cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma. All part of this plant contains alkaloid vasicine which is a bronchodilator, respiratory stimulant, hypotensive (lowers blood pressure), cardiac depressant (decreases heart rate and contractility), uterotonic and abortifacient.

Dosage and administration: 5-20 ml leaves juice orally with honey and water for 3-5 days.

3) Laxmi Vilas Ras (Nardiya) is a Rasayan and useful in the treatment of wide variety of diseases such as skin diseases, all types of Prameha, wounds, piles, fistula, filaria, all type of Kapha rog, diseases of brain, mouth, and sexual disorders.

Dosage and administration: 250 mg, 1-2 tablets twice/thrice a day for 3-7 days or as directed by a physician.

4) Chandramrut Ras is herbo-mineral Ayurvedic medicine useful in the treatment of respiratory diseases. This medicine is indicated in all types of Khasi/coughing. It is also indicated in chronic fever with coughing, impaired digestion, and phlegm.

Dosage and administration: 500 mg, 1 tablets twice/thrice a day for 3-7 days or as directed by a physician.
