Know the Ingredients
1- Salai Guggulu (also known as Indian frankincense, Indian olibanum or Salai guggul, Luban, Salai, Saiga, Salhe, Sali, Salpe, Selgond) is obtained from Boswellia serrata Roxb. ex Colebr., a deciduous, medium-sized tree.
The main active constituents of gum resin are the boswellic acids, which are lipophilic pentacyclic triterpene acids. The boswellic acids have immunomodulatory effects and are anti-inflammatory via a number of mechanisms. The keto derivatives, 11-keto-beta-boswellic acid, and acetyl-11-keto-betaboswellic acid are thought to be particularly potent anti-inflammatory agents. The gum of tree contains oxidizing and diastatic enzymes and used as an internal and external stimulant, expectorant, diuretic, and stomachic. It is also a hepatic stimulant. It is useful in chronic cases of diarrhea, dysentery, pulmonary affections, hemorrhoids, inflammatory disorders, collagenous colitis, peritumoral oedema, rheumatoid arthritis, and other chronic conditions.
2- Maharasnadi Quath / Kadha / Kashayam / Kwath / Decoction, is an Ayurvedic formulation for treating diseases of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system consists of bones of the skeleton, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other connective tissue that supports and binds tissues and organs together and it is responsible for the form, support, stability, and movement to the body.
Maharasnadi Kadha gives relief in pain, swelling, stiffness, and other Vata Roga symptoms. Maha Rasnadi Quath is indicated in all kinds of rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, sciatica, backache, pain in muscles, spermatorrhoea, paraplegia, sciatica, hemiplegia, lumbago, and other similar conditions. It is bitter Tonic, aperient, and diuretic.
3- Suranjan is Unani name of Colchicum luteum Baker, a type of lily plant with yellow flowers. It is found growing on grassy slopes in the temperate Himalayas, Afghanistan, and Turkestan. This plant is included in the list of poisonous plants of India. It must be used with caution. It is a toxic plant due to the presence of from several alkaloids (mainly colchicine, demecolcine and colchicoside), which are present in all plant parts. It is indicated in pain, inflammation, stiffness and degenerative changes in joints.
Strychnos nux-vomica Linn. has stimulating effects on respiratory and vasomotor centers. It has a direct depressant effect on the heart and inhibits the release of acetylcholine. It acts on the cerebral cortex and peripheral nerves and shows marked hyperactivity. It is Toxic.
Large doses of nux vomica cause tetanic convulsions and eventually death results. Even with safe doses, there may be some mental derangement.
In Ayurveda, the seeds are first detoxified and used for therapeutic purpose. The seeds are given to stimulate the respiratory system, neuromuscular system and make the heart strong and in the lethargy of generative organs.
5- Ras Sindoor/Rasa Sindura is a mineral preparation of Ayurveda. It is a Kupipakva (processed in Kaach-Kupi or glass bottle) Rasayan containing Shuddha Parad and Shuddha Gandhak. Chemically, it is a red Sulphide of mercury. It is very effective in Kaphaj roga (disease due to Kapha), Balakhasya (loss of strength), Dhatukhasya (tissue wasting), Hridyadurbalya (weakness of heart), Prameha (Diabetes), Shula (colicky pain) and inflammatory conditions.
6- Lauha Bhasma is Vayasthapana (anti-aging), Lekhana (emaciating) and Rasayana (immunomodulator) properties. It increases strength, complexion, and appetite. It cures diseases caused by vitiated Kapha and Pitta.
7- Lauha Bhasma is useful in anemia (Panduroga), chlorosis, visarpa, heart’s affections, phthisis, scrofula, general debility, sexual debility, Bright’s disease, blood impurity, jaundice, the liver and spleen complaints, pain, asthma, piles, skin disease. It promotes digestion.
8- Vang Bhasma is incinerated tin. It is aphrodisiac, rejuvenator, appetizer, and gives strength. It cures diseases caused by vitiation of Kapha and pitta. It cures cough, worms, asthma, and oligospermia.
9- Swarnmakshik / Swarna Makshik Bhasma, Ayurvedic preparation of Swarna Makshika or yellow Pyrites. Swarna Makshik is not related to Gold BUT it is copper containing Iron pyrites with chemical formula CuFeS2 Chalcopyrite. The Swarna Makshika Bhasma contains Fe2O3, FeS2, CuS, and SiO2. Chemically Swarna Makshika Bhasma is incinerated Chalcopyrite or Chalcopyrite Calyx.
It is Madhura, Tikta, and Kashaya in Rasa/Taste, Sheet Virya/Potency, Madura Vipaak/ Post digestive effect, and Laghu Guna/quality. It pacifies excessive Pitta and Kapha.
Swarna makshika bhasma has been used for Pandu (anemia), anidra (insomnia), apasmara (convulsions), mandagni (poor digestion), kustha (skin diseases) and as a potent Rasayana.
10- Abhrak Bhasma is the calcination of the mineral, mica. It is an established Rasayana (Rejuvenative tonic; nourishes all Dhatu and builds Ojas; promotes longevity by preventing aging and by making the body young again) of Ayurveda.
Abhrak Bhasma contains iron as a major element and magnesium, potassium, calcium, and aluminum in traces. It is a broad-spectrum medicine effective in the treatment of acidity, respiratory ailments, anemia, hepatitis, viral hepatitis, sex debility, azoospermia, etc. Abhraka Bhasma It is a wonder drug due to its curative property in various ailments.
11- Swarn Bhasma is incinerated gold. It is considered elixir. It is a Rasayana. It gives complexion, strength, and cures diseases caused by vitiation of Vata-Pitta -Kapha.
