Anand Bhairav Rasa

Anand Bhairav Ras is a Ras Aushadhi of Ayurveda. Mercury is known as Rasa in Ayurveda and medicines that are prepared using purified mercury, purified Sulphur, bhasma, etc. are named as Ras aushadhi (Mercurial Preparations). Para, Parad, Rasa or mercury is a heavy metal that remains liquid at room temperature. It is used in Ayurveda only after proper detoxification as per classical Ayurvedic texts. Parad is ingredient of numerous medicines due to its powerful medicinal properties. It balances Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Ras aushadhi (Parad containing medicine) are fast acting. They nourishes the whole body and has Tonic, aphrodisiac, rejuvenative, anti-aging, wound-healer, and antimicrobial effect. The combination of mercury with other medicinal ingredients enhances the therapeutic efficacy of the medicine due to Yogvahi property of parad.

There are two formulation of Anand Bhairav Ras available viz. for Kasa and for fever.

Anand Bhairav Ras (Kasa) is indicated in respiratory ailments, diarrhea, sprue, epilepsy, diseases due to vitiation of vata, prameha, indigeation and digestive weakness.

Anand Bhairav Ras (fever) is indicated in the fever due to any reason.

Ingredients of Anand Bhairav Ras

Anand Bhairav Ras (Kasa)

Each 12 grams: Shudh (purified) Parad, Shudh Gandhak, Shudh Hingul, Shudh Vatsanabh, (Shunthi, Maricha Phal, Pippali Phal=Trikatu) and Shudh Tankan, Pippali.

Processed in: Bhringraj Swaras, Bijaura Nimbu Swaras.

Preparation: Shudh (purified) Parad and Shudh Gandhak are blended together to form Kajjali (refer glossary). The Kajjali is treated with Bhringraj Swaras. On drying, Shudh Hingul, Shudh Vatsanabh, Shunthi, Marich Phal, Pippali Phal and Shudh Tankan are finely powdered and added to the Kajjali. The mixture is then treated with Bijaura Nimbu Swaras. This formulation is called Anandbhairav Ras. Anandbhairav Ras on drying is rolled into tablets each measuring 125 mg.

Anand Bhairav Ras (fever)

Each 12 grams: Shudh (purified) Hingul, Shudh Vatsanabh, Shudh Tankan, Shunthi, Jaatiphal.

Each 24 grams: Marich Phal and Pippali Phal.

Preparation: Shudh (purified) Hingul is pounded to form coarse powder. Shudh Vatsanabh, Shudh Tankan, Shunthi, Jaatiphal, Marich Phal and choti Pippali Phal are finely powdered and mixed with Hingul. The mixture is treated with Jambeer Swaras. This formulation is called Anandbhairav Ras. Anandbhairav Ras on drying is rolled into tablets each measuring 125 mg.

Uses of Anand Bhairav Ras

Anand Bhairav Ras (Kasa)is indicated in respiratory and digestive disorders.

It shows beneficial effects in excessive phlegm;headache, low appetite, fatigue, lethargy, digestive weakness, heaviness, nausea, and other symptoms related to excessive cough inside the body;coryza, coughing, difficulty in breathing;diarrhea due to excess mucous;

This medicine stimulates Pitta and improves digestion.

Anandbhairav Ras (kas) must not be used in diseases that occur due to vitiation of Pitta and excess pitta.

Anand Bhairav Ras (fever)is indicated in the fever due to any reason. In simple fever, it is given in a dose of 1 tablet in morning and evening with honey.

For high temperature, it is given with juice of ginger and honey, thrice a day.

It also shows a beneficial effect in diarrhea, coryza, cough, etc.

The Dosage of Anand Bhairav Ras

Anand Bhairav Ras (Kasa):1-2 tablet, twice a day, with ginger juice/ Paan leaf juice and honey/pomegranate fruit juice/water.

Anand Bhairav Ras (fever):1 tablet, twice a day, with ginger juice and honey.

Or as directed by a physician.
