Acne is most common skin the problem which causes pimples and acne can be treated with Ayurvedic medicines effectively. Mostly it occurs on the face, neck and back but it can occur on other part of the body also. Mostly young and teenage people get acne but any one get acne even babies. Acne in babies is know as babies acne.
There can be several reasons for acne but till now no one knows exact reasons of acne in modern medicine system. Mostly it may occurs due to hormonal changes during teenage years and pregnancy. But in Ayurvedic medicine system it is described as given below( ref).
Acne are caused by aggravation of Pitta Dosha(Ayurvedic humor representing Fire) in her body, as evidenced by the inflammation in her boils as well as the problem of mild constipation. The Pitta had further impaired the Rakta and Meda Dhatu (blood and fat tissues), producing toxins that blocked skin’s pores, leading to acne formation. And, when combined withVata (Ayurvedic humor representing Air), it caused pain in the affected region. Additionally, the fact that boils dissolved on their own, without any external intervention, indicated hormonal disturbance in the body.
In Ayurveda there are many medicines and procedures to treat acne. Here are brief details of some good ayurvedic medicine to treat acne.
Raktashodhan
Raktashodhan is an Ayurvedic herbal medicine which comes in two forms tablet and syrup. it’s natural herbal ingredients purify blood, removes toxins and improves immunity. Raktashodhak has many herbs which are mentioned in Ayurveda to remove toxins and improve immunity. The Dosage of syrup is 10 to 15 ml. twice a day with water. or as directed by the physician and if using tablets then take 1-2 tablets twice daily or as prescribed by a physician.
Himalaya Septilin
Septilin is useful in strengthening body immunity that helps in the prevention of various types of infections. It has immunomodulatory, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Himalaya Septilin is available in the form of syrup and drops. Take 2 tabs twice/thrice for one month.
Kumkumadi lepam
Kumkumadi Oil also contains other medicinal herbs such as Haldi, Chandan, Manjishtha, Yashtimadhu, Vat, etc. Kumkum or saffron (Crocus sativus) is useful for treating skin diseases and improving skin complexion. Saffron has antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities. It prevent infection in acne and prevents scars due to pimples. This oil is for external use only. Wash face and pat dry. Take few drops of oil on finger tips and massage face in circular motion. You can use this oil externally with other medicines.
Hamdard Safi
Safi is used for blood purification and preventing skin problems.Safi purifies the blood from within by giving your the liver, thyroid and the rest of your body the support they need and eliminating the toxins that usually cause acne and blemishes. Take Safi only for 1~2 months continually or consult some physician(Ayurvedic). Use safi as per uses direction pack, make sure to dilute safi as per instructions.
Hempushpa
Hempushpa ayurvedic medicine to cure women related health problems such as regulating periods, blood purification, irritability, improving appetite and general health. Please take 7 ml twice day after meals or as directed by the physician.
Acnovin Cream
Acnovin Cream is an Ayurvedic formulation used as skin cream to treat acne, clear and prevent acne marks and infections in acne. Wash affected area with mild soap and dry that part with clean cotton cloth then apply Acnovin cream and gently rubb till the cream penetrates the skin. Do this 2 times daily.
Some tips for acne daily care
Try to keep your skin less oily and for this you can do following things
- Avoid scrubbing or repeated skin washing.
- Shampoo your hair daily, especially if it is oily.
- Comb or pull your hair back to keep the hair out of your face.
- Clean your skin gently with a mild, non-drying soap, such as Dove, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, or CeraVe.
- Remove all dirt or make-up. Wash once or twice a day, and also after exercising.
For prevention do following
- Avoid touching your face.
- Avoid greasy cosmetics or creams.
- Do not leave make-up on overnight
- Do not squeeze, scratch, pick, or rub pimples. This can lead to the skin infections and scarring.
- Avoid wearing tight headbands, baseball caps, and other hats.
