Pathyadi Kwath is polyherbal Ayurvedic decoction containing Pathya (Harad) and other medicinal herbs. This Kashaya has an antioxidant adaptogenic and laxative properties. It is a useful medicine for treating headaches as it is tridodhnashak, anti-inflammatory, purgative and pain relieving. The decoction of medicinal herbs is also known as Kwath, Quath or Kadha.

Key Ingredients of Pathyadi Kadha

Harad (Haritaki) Fruits 1 part: The fruits of Haritaki has several medicinal properties like antioxidant, carminative, astringent, expectorant, gentle purgative, laxative, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal. Haritaki is a useful drug to treat flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, dysentery, cyst, digestive disorders, vomiting, enlarged the liver and spleen, cough and bronchial asthma.

Baheda (Bibhitaka) Fruits 1 part: Bahera fruits are very useful in the treatment of diseases due to kapha and Pitta dosha. In excess it increases vata inside the body. The Fruits are bitter, analgesic, astringent, brain Tonic, expectorant and laxative. It is an excellent remedy for catarrhal condition, congestion, cough, bronchitis, asthma, and sore throats.

Goose Berry Fruits 1 part:  Indian Goose Berry has numerous health benefits. It is richest source of vitamin C which is an anti-oxidant. Amla also contains protein, iron, minerals and amino acids. It is veramla-Himalaya good for the digestive system. It is one of the ingredient of Triphala Churna. Amla helps in removal of free radicals responsible for aging. It is also helpful in new cells generations. It is tridoshnashak which means it balances vaat, Pitta and kapha.

Bhui nimba (Kiratatikta) (Pl.) 1 part: Helps treat the liver disorders, eyes, heart, nausea, indigestion, appetite, gout, intestinal worms, skin diseases, wound healing, ulcers, asthma, reduces fevers, joint pains, and is used for prevention of stones in the kidney or gall bladder.

Turmeric (Rhizome) 1 part: Turmeric medicinal properties includes anti aging, anti oxidant, anti inflammatory, and anti bacterial. Turmeric contain manganese, iron, vit B6 and potassium. Here are some of the medicinal use of turmeric.

Uses of Pathyadi Kadha

Pathyadi Kadha is indicated in the treatment shiro roga (Headache;also called shirah shula or shiro tapa), Migraine;Headaches due to eyestrain. It reduces the intensity and frequency of migraine attacks.

Pathyadi Kadha is also therapeutically used in Trigeminal neuralgia (Trigeminal neuralgia is a disorder of the trigeminal nerve, the fifth cranial nerve, that causes episodes of sharp, stabbing pain in the cheek, lips, gums, or chin on one side of the face), Sinusitis, Pain in Teeth, Night blindness, etc.

Since this medicine contains Triphala, it also relieves constipation.

The Dosage of Pathyadi Kadha

The recommended dosage of Pathyadi Kashayam is 15-20 ml, twice a day after the meal with jaggery or take as directed by a physician.
