The ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy also known as abdominal or tubal pregnancy. Usually the ectopic pregnancy leads to miscarriage. In most of the women having ectopic pregnancy have no risk factor.
What is ectopic pregnancy ?
Females reproductive organ is uterus(womb). When a women gets pregnant fertilized egg travels from fallopian tube to uterus and baby grows in uterus. In ectopic pregnancy fertilized eggs stuck into fallopian tube or take place into ovary or some other place rather than uterus and starts growing. This is abnormal pregnancy.
As fertilized egg cannot live outside of the uterus. It needs space to grow and a source of nourishment which it can get only inside uterus.
Ectopic pregnancy can cause a medical emergency. You must see your gynaecologist is you have yhe following symptoms.
- Severe abdominal or pelvic pain
- Vaginal bleeding
- Extreme light-headedness
- Fainting
