Know the Ingredients

Guduchi, Giloy, Gurch, Amrita, Amritavalli, Madhuparni, Guduchika, Chinnobhava, Vatsadani, Tantrika, Kundalini, Chakralakshanika are Ayurvedic synonyms of Tinospora cordifolia. It is also known as Garo, Galac (Gujarati), Thippateega (Telugu),Amrita, Gilo (Kashmiri), Chittamrutu (Malayalam), Guluchi (Oriya), Gilo (Punjabi), Seendal, Seendil Kodi (Tamil), Siddhilata, Amarlata (Assamese). It is a very important and extensively used medicinal herb of Ayurveda.

Tinospora is a climber and for medicinal purpose the stem of the plant are used. Guduchi possess immunomodulatory, heptoprotective, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, adaptogen, anticancer, immunostimulant, and several other medicinal properties.

It is a Rasayana herb and used to treat many diseases such as general debility, fever, diabetes, dyspepsia, urinary infections, jaundice and skin diseases.

Neem (Azadirachta indica, family Meliaceae) is also known as margosa, nim, nimba, nimbatiktam, arishtha, praneem. It has significant antiseptic, insecticide, Analgesic, Anti-inflammatory and Laxative properties.

The active constituents of neem are the mainly triterpenoids, sterols, bitter principles nimbin and nimbiol. It is cool, bitter, astringent, acrid and refrigerant.

Neem is useful in tiredness, fever, loss of appetite, worm infestation, vitiated conditions of kapha, vomiting, skin diseases, excessive thirst, leprosy, skin disorders, stomach ulcers, chicken pox, malarial fever and diabetes. It detoxify body.

Haritaki / Chebulic myrobalan / Terminalia chebula, consists of the pericarp of mature fruits of Terminalia chebula Retz. (Fam. Combretaceae).  Its synonym in Sanskrit are Abhaya, Kayastha, Shiva, Pathya, and Vijaya. The main constituent of Haritaki is Tannins, anthraquinones and polyphenolic compounds.

It is a tonic drug and is good for the digestive system. The main therapeutic use of Haritaki is a digestive and respiratory ailments. It has all taste except salty (rasa), light (Laghu), rough or dry (ruksa) in properties (Guna), hot (Ushna) is potency (Virya) and pungent (Katu) Vipaka. It balances Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. It works on all body tissues. It is a tonic with anti-inflammatory, laxative, astringent, diuretic, carminative, and anthelmintic properties. Haritaki treats intestinal parasites, constipation, diarrhea, gas, cough and diseases of eyes.

 Amla (Emblica officinalis) is nutritive tonic of Ayurveda. It is healing and rejuvenating. Its intake gives good eyesight, keeps hair black and helps in better absorption of iron. It is a rich source of Vitamin C. Amalki is also known as Dhatri in Sanskrit which means ‘supporter/ sustainer’ and ‘nurse’. So the name Dhatri signifies one that nurse, supports and heals. Dhatri or Amla in Ayurveda, is to treat hyperacidity. Intake of Amla in the form of juice or powder gives releif in acidity due to its Pitta pacifying and cooling properties. It has laxative properties and hepls in constipation.

Babchi seeds contain an essential oils (0.05%),a non-volatile trepenoid oil, a dark brown resin (8.6%), a pigment (hydroxyflavone), a monotrepnoid phenol(bakuchiol), a brown fixed oil (10%), raffinose, coumarin compounds, albumin, sugar, ash 7.5 % and a trace of manganese. Psoralen and isopsoralen are therapeutically active constituents. It is also useful for the treatment of Psoriasis, Leprosy, Intestinal worms.

Bakuchi is very important remedy for leucoderma. It has a powerful action against the skin streptococci. Locally it is very beneficial in the treatment of leucoderma . It dilates the arterioles of the body. It use directly act on melanin ( pigment in skin) leading to pigment formation which diffuses into the decolorized leucodermic patches.

And suffering from suspected lichen sclerosus, which I would rather describe as sclerosed whitened episiotomy old scars, as well as reddening near parts with small cuts, together with hypertonic anus leading to inflammation of this other close part…do you think Nimbadi ointment and powder would help ?
