Yakridari Lauh is a classical Ayurvedic medicine indicated in the treatment of diseases of the liver and spleen. Lauha kalpa increases hemoglobin count in the body and gives strength.

It is prepared from five ingredients viz. Bhasma of Lauha, Abhrak and Tamra, roots of Bijaura lemon and Bhasma of the skin of deer. It is a classical medicine and used to treat enlargement of the liver-spleen, jaundice, halimak, and fever due to liver disorders. It reduces Kapha and gives relief in asthma.

Yakridari Lauha, is a Lauha kalpa. Lauha kalpas are Ayurvedic medicines having Lauha Bhasma (calyx of iron) as the major ingredient along with the other ingredients. These formulations have “Lauha” as suffix in their name. For preparing Lauha Kalp, the medicinal herbs are reduced to fine powder and mixed with Lauha Bhasma. Bhavana is given with prescribed liquids if mentioned.

When well protected from moisture and heat, Lauha Kalp keep their potency for a period of two years.

Ingredients of Yakridari Lauh

  • Lauha churna/Bhasma 24 g
  • Abhraka Bhasma 24 g
  • Tamra Bhasma 12 g
  • Limpakanghri (Nimbu) (Rt. Bk.) 48 g
  • Mrigajina Bhasma (Antardhuma bhasma of Mrigajina (burnt ash of Deer’s skin) 48 g

Key ingredients

Lauha Bhasma, an iron-based herbo-metallic preparation. It mainly consists of Fe2O3 and Fe3O4.

Lauha Bhasma is Vayasthapana (anti-aging), Lekhana (emaciating) and Rasayana (immunomodulator) properties. It increases strength, complexion and appetite. It cures diseases caused by vitiated Kapha and Pitta.

Lauha Bhasma is useful in anemia (Panduroga), chlorosis, visarpa, heart’s affections, phthisis, scrofula, general debility, sexual debility, Bright’s disease, Prameha (diabetes), Yakshma (tuberculosis), Krimi Roga (worm infestation), Kshinatwa (cachexia), Sthaulya (obesity), Grahani (bowel syndrome), Agnimandya (dyspepsia), Shula (spasmodic pain), Visha (poisoning), blood impurity, jaundice, the liver and spleen complaints, pain, asthma, piles, skin disease. It promotes digestion. Iron is useful in all chronic diseases.

Abhraka bhasma is herbo-mineral preparation of mineral, mica. It consist iron as a major element and Calcium, potassium and Silicon in low concentrations. Abhraka Bhasma is widely used for the treatment of the liver dysfunction, leukemia, sex debility, azoospermia, cystic fibrosis, post encephalic dysfunction, cervical dysplasia, Kapha disorders, anemia and splenic diseases.

Tamra bhasma is preparation of metal, copper. It is antioxidant, rejuvenator and aphrodisiac. It helps in wound healing, and alleviates Kapha and Pitta disorders.

Tamra Bhasma is indicated in Ascites, Inflammation, anemia, Vata disorders, Pitta, and Kapha disorders, cough, asthma, fever, splenic diseases, diseases of the liver and digestive disorders.
