The main ingredient of this powder is Senna leaves or Sanay ki patti. Sanay has laxative (loosen the bowels), mild purgative (causing bowel movement), cholagogue (promotes the discharge of bile), enhances peristalsis (the rhythmic, wavelike motion of the walls of the alimentary canal) and secretions of the intestines.
Haritaki is a digestive and energy tonic and It helps to regulate the colon and is good for both constipation and diarrhea.
Mulethi or licorice has mild laxative, antiulcer, anti-inflammatory, emetic, Tonic, and emmenagogue properties. It relieves abdominal pain, and hyperacidity.
Fennel or Foeniculum vulgare has carminative, mild laxative and diuretic in action.
Black salt has carminative, aperient, tonic and stomachic properties. It is useful in enlarged spleen and the liver, gas, abdominal pain and indigestion.
Triphala is a combination of three fruits taken in equal amount viz. Haritaki Teminalia chebula (Outer pericarp only), Baihitaki Teminalia belerica (Outer pericarp only), and Amalaki (Amla) Emblica offcinalis (without seed). It is a laxative that cures constipation, cleanses and tonifies the gastrointestinal tract and also detoxifies the whole body. It is tonic that improves digestion and assimilation. It is a laxative, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-allergic properties.
Uses of Zandu Nityam Churna
Nityam churna has laxative properties. It gently cleanses, lubricates and moisturizes intestinal walls. It is taken at night for regular bowel movements.
Nityam Churna is indicated in chronic constipation, and associated symptoms such as gas, nausea, and acidity. In piles and fissure it helps in eases the evacuation.
The Dosage of Zandu Nityam Churna
½ to 1 tsp (2.5g to 5g) or as per requirement at bedtime with water. Children may be given half this dosage.
This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy.
