Panchsakar Churna For Stomach Disorders

Panchsakar Churna is a herbal Ayurvedic medicine mentioned in the Ayurveda Sarsangraha. This medicine is useful for treating constipation, piles and other abdominal diseases. Panchsakar Churna is prepared from five ingredients which are mixed in equal ratio. The five powdered ingredients that are used to prepare this Ayurvedic formulation are senna leaves, haritaki, adrak, saunf and sendha namak.

All five ingredients are well-known for treating digestive weakness, constipation, low appetite and associated health issue that occur due to impaired digestion and accumulation of toxins in the body. Senna, Harad, Saunf have ability to soften stool and thus cure constipation. Ginger and Rock salt improves bile flow and appetite. Since the medicine has laxative, purgative properties so overdose of this medicine can cause loose motion. As it contains salt, so it should be used cautiously in the high blood pressure patients.

Each in equal amount: Cassia angustifolia/Senna leaf, Terminalia chebula Harad fruit, Zingiber officinale Sunthi rhizome, Saunf/Fennel Foeniculum vulgare seeds, Saindhava lavana Rock slat

Uses of Panchsakar churna

This medicine has laxative, purgative and carminative (gives relief in gas) activities. It is a famous medicine for treating Kabaz or Constipation.

Panchsakar powder is useful in treating abdominal diseases. It is a useful formulation for managing constipation and piles/haemorrhoids. The medicine improves digestive strength and thus useful in curing indigestion. It also gives relief in gas, abdominal bloating and colic pain.

The other condition which are managed by use of this formulation are assimilatory disorder, rheumatic conditions, all diseases of Kapha Dosha origin, improves functioning of the liver, in hyperacidity, heartburn and acidic belching. It provides an antidote for pungent food and promotes the elimination of toxins, supports intestinal immunity and balances tridosha (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).

The Dosage of Panchasakar churna

The dosage of Panchsakar churna is ½ to 1 teaspoonful (3-6gm) with lukewarm water or with 1 gram Lavan bhaskar Churna. It should be taken with hot water or hot milk before going to bed. Or take as directed by the physician.

This medicine is manufactured by Shree Baidyanath Ayurved Bhawan, Unja, Dabur and some other pharmacies.

  1. i use everday night 1table spoon last 2years starting but right now not prorper work, give me advise
