Calpol Paediatric medicine

Calpol is allopathic medicine for treating children’s fever. It is over-the-counter (OTC) medicine.  OTC drugs are sold without prescription. Calpol is paracetamol suspension. This medicine can be given to infant suffering from pain and fever after immunisation. If your little one vomits the medicine then it is better to give medicine mixed in milk. You may mix it in breast milk.

The Dose of Calpol

The exact doseis dependent on age and weight of child. Calpol suspension are available for different age groups. So always check the label of medicine while purchasing to know age group for which the medicine is suitable.

  • For babies over 2 months, weighing over 4kg and not premature, you can use CALPOL Infant Suspension.
    For children 6 years and older, you can use CALPOL SIXPLUS Suspension.
    CALPROFEN Ibuprofen Suspension starts work to relieve fever in just 15 minutes and lasts up to 8 hours. It?s suitable for children over 3 months and weighing over 5kg.
  • 3 months to 6 months: 2.5ml of infant paracetamol suspension, given up to four times per day
    6 months to 24 months: 5ml of infant paracetamol suspension, given up to four times a day
  • 2 years to 4 years: 7.5ml of infant paracetamol suspension, given up to four times a day
  • 4 years to 6 years: 10ml of infant paracetamol suspension, given up to four times a day
  • 6 years to 8 years: 5ml of paracetamol six-plus suspension, given up to four times a day
  • 8 years to 10 years: 7.5ml of paracetamol six-plus suspension, given up to four times a day
  • 10 years to 12 years: 10 ml of paracetamol six-plus suspension, given up to four times a day.
