Feronia-XT Drops for iron supplementation

Feronia-XT Drops are oral drops indicated for preventing and treating iron and folic acid deficiency in babies. The composition of Feronia-XT oral drops is ferrous ascorbate (equivalent to elemental iron) 10 mg, folic acid 100 mcg.

The Dosage of Feronia-XT Drops

The dosage of iron drops for preventing iron deficiency anemia is dependent on age and weight of child. A healthy normal weight child should be given 2-3 mg/kg/day of elemental iron starting at 4 months of age. If child suffers from anemia then dose is higher than this and exact dosage is prescribed by a doctor after proper tests and level of deficiency.

The iron supplementation should be given an hour before or two hours after the feeds. If child has tendency to vomit then it can be given with feed but absorption will decrease.
There are some possible side-effects such as nausea, constipation, black stool, upset stomach, etc.
